August 2015 SPOTM, retros or special schemes
This is the SPOTM (Special Photo Of The Month) competition for August 2015 and the subject is 'Retros or special schemes' – think of those Hobbits, Man Citys, Grand Prixs and 'back to the 60’s' retros to mention just a few – loads to choose from and there are some lovely schemes out there.
The subject of your entry should be a civil registered airliner operating or preserved under a civilian registration at the time the photo was taken. 'Old' photographs of aircraft in a scheme which is no longer current but which was when the photo was taken are not acceptable e.g. a preserved Trident in the old BEA scheme). Aircraft which at some time have previously carried a military registration but subsequently transferred to the civil register are acceptable. If your entry is civil registered but displays a military serial for display purposes, please state the civil registration with your entry.
Photography Competition Rules :-
1. Only one entry per user, unless posting on behalf of another person who is unable to do so themselves (children for example). If this is the case, please state so on your entry..
2. The photo may have been taken on any date, it does not have to be taken in the month of the competition
3. The image can be photo-shopped to some extent, levels changes, cropping, sharpening etc. are all acceptable. The photograph must retain it’s initial subject though, don’t make it something it’s not, (cutting and pasting the moon into the shot, for example !). HDR images are not acceptable. If you are unsure, please PM a moderator.
4. The competition will remain open until 23.59 (UK time) on the 1st September 2015, to enable anyone with a last minute entry some breathing space.
5. Voting will be conducted by a poll open to all the membership shortly after the closure of the competition.
6. The decision of the moderating team is final.
7. All images must be posted in line with the usual CA posting rules (size etc.), please read them if you're not sure how to post.
8. The rules may be subject to change, and these will be posted on this thread.
9. Please also embed the images and not links to images, if you're not sure how to do it then shout up and someone will sort it out. It is permissible to change your entry before the closing date.
10. Do not comment on other member's photos.
11. A brief description of where and when the image was taken would be nice too.
Good luck everyone.

Well one of us was bound to post it, so I thought I'd better get in quick with G-EZUI in the easyJet 200th Airbus scheme. Seen here at snowy Luton on 11th February 2012.

I will add A6-EYE as my special scheme for this months comp, taken at Manchester in October 2011 from the much missed south side mounds by the fire training area
I think this was the only time i have ever seen this plane in the Man City livery
Re: August 2015 SPOTM, retros or special schemes
Airbus A320 of Brussels Airlines, on final approach Brussels Airport.
Disguised as the famous shark submarine from the Tintin album “Red Rackham’s Treasure”.
Not only the outside of the aircraft is painted in this spectacular Tintin livery. In addition, the atmosphere continues on the inside of the plane, where the rear cabin walls have also been reworked and carry images of Tintin and Captain Haddock from the same comic album.

I'm gonna go with this one this month...
A Transavia Sud SE-210 Caravelle. This one adorned with the Osmonds name, as it carried them around on a European Tour sometime during (I would guess) the early 1970's.

As you can see, there was quite a crowd at Luton to welcome them in, as can be seen by the hand waving!!
Good luck all...

I'm going to go with this one, Air Malta's rather splendid Valletta Jet. Taken under the flood lights at Norwich in May.
