Restoration of a classic 737!

Post by Disaster Area » Fri Jan 31, 2014 6:22 pm

Just before Xmas Bournemouth Aviation Museum took delivery of a 737-200. It had spent many months stored at Hurn before it was acquired by the museum. Eventually it will become a memorial to Mr Peter Bath, the owner of travel company Bath Travel who in turn operated aircraft under the 'Palmair' logo. Palmair was voted one of the worlds best 3 airlines. It is also intended to use the airframe for children's parties and even small conferences once the restoration project is complete.

I will document the aircraft restoration of the coming months.

Here is the aircraft in 2006 when she was flying charters for various airlines!

and here she is in her new home!

As you can see lots of work is needed to restore her back to her former glory but a team of dedicated volunteers will do exactly that with the aim of completing the project by early summer!

A lot of work has already been completed by the time I took this photo including the installation of new interior lighting!

I will update this thread when significant milestones in her restoration have been reached.
