Neil, I only wish that I had more photos from Manchester Airport, regrettably that was the only time I had my camera with me ( and enough pocket money to buy the film! ).

I do have more photos from various locations during the 60's, 70's & 80's which I'll be uploading in the future. :)

Thanks very much for your comments and I'm glad that they stirred up some memories. :thumb:

The doors on that Viscount... amazing.

Thanks from a child of the nineties who only remembers 707s as a rare cargo treat once in a blue moon!

Hi Garry,

I couldn't decide if the last ( and most important ) letter of the Vanguard's registration was an 'F' or a 'P', however, under enlargement it looked more like a 'P' to me ( I also had the same same problem with the BOAC VC.10! ).

That said, you may well be right, I'd be interested to know how you can tell it's a V.951, I'm assuming that there's a visual difference to the V.953 variant?

Cheers

I've spent ages zooming-in on the Vanguard shot, it's impossible for me to say which one it is and have now given up ! I didn't think there was any external difference between the 2 types, I know that the 953 had a stronger fuselage and wing but that was about all.
Go on Garry and put me out of misery, what's the difference?

Sorry...been away

The V.951/953 difference...the 951 has a horizontal bar on the almost triangualr cockpit window.
