Scanner recommendations

Post by The Cameraman » Fri Jan 01, 2010 9:43 am

Morning Guys n Gals,

It's about time that I sourced a scanner, to cover prints, negs and mounted 35mm slides.

Any recommendations of which to get and which to reject?

Not looking to spend a fortune but not expecting to get anything too cheap!

Regards

Reggie

I'm in the same position as you. Recommendations on Fighter Control include the Canon CanoScan 8800F ir the CanoScan 5600F. Depending where you look, these retail between £100 and £200.
I can't make up my mind which one at the moment.
Any other suggestions?

I've got a Plustek Opticfilm 7500i which isnt bad. The SCan/Edit software that comes with it is a bit anoying as it has scan presets for the popular film types but they are not that accurate, thankfully it has basic scan function that avoids all that and has produced some very good scans. think mine was around £200 on pixmania.com. hope that helps.
