Duxford airliners 27-03-2025

Post by andygolfer » Mon Mar 31, 2025 7:35 pm

The current changes at Duxford have resulted in nearly all the airliners being in a line outside. I was there on Friday for the Puma Farewell flight and took the opportunity to get some photos of the airliners so here they are:

to start with here's the line of most of the airliners:

The CAFU Dove which I once saw regularly at Stansted has spent the last 18 years suspended from the Airspace ceiling so it was nice to see that out in the sunlight...

these next three have been outside for ages but are well looked after and appear to have recently received some new paint...

The Comet is now outside and looks immaculate, I just hope the English weather doesn't spoil it. looks amazing for a 75 year old design (with a few mods)...

And the VC.10 will always look nice, we built some beautiful aircraft when we had a proper aviation industry

next down the line was the Trident Two,

and the BAC.111

finally the Trislander acts as the bookstop at the end..

The RAF BAe.146 isn't part of the line , maybe because it's military registered but airliner enough to be inclluded in this post...

another along the line, this time the front ends, what a lovely sight...

and a bit of indulgence, it looks magnificent out in the sunlight after all that time indoors when it was too cramped to appreciate it so here's another of that beautiful Comet....

Well done to all the volunteers who keep them looking so good - thank you

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome

Nice shots Andy...

That comet does indeed look good outside in the sunlight - but such a shame the IWM have made that decision...

Lovely light on those Andy - you've done them justice :)

Having joined recently I've been a few times in the last couple of months.

The 146 was in the line until about a month ago. It is registered as G-CMEU so has a civil connection after all.

Lovely pictures, sunshine makes such a difference after all the grey low cloud this year.
And what a grand varied collection of British designs.

What do we build now ? :(

Pete.

Nice set Andy.
Great light really shows the airframes at their best. :thumb:

Lovely set this.

I've never been to Duxford and didn't realise there was quite that much on the airliner row outside. Agree that the comet looks magnificent.

Will have to earmark a trip in the autumn when the light is less harsh and the heat haze is gone!
