Cardiff & St Athan October '22

Post by welshdan1927 » Tue Oct 11, 2022 1:37 pm

Well, after a year away that's three posts in the space of a week with more to come.

Like buses, the interesting movements locally have really started kicking up a notch to coincide with some nice autumnal light.

On my previous post I mentioned the Bangkok A320 that arrived at Saints and evaded my lens - it has now been re-registered but it is parked at the end of the scrap row closest to the runway, which makes it visible from the bridge and the farmer's track along the fence line. With a ladder you can get this shot - if you do, get your shot and move on.

The newest arrival was this Air France A321 which was good for me. Another for the chop.

A second Canadian C750 in as many weeks was a treat.

The news of Doncaster's impending closure was greeted with sadness and seen as a warning to all of us with "quiet" locals not to take anything for granted.
There does seem to be some possible advantages though, with talk of the Oil Spill 727s at least temporarily moving to Cardiff to base.
This was a real treat and remains parked outside the BA Maintenance Centre, with some suggestions that it may become a based aircraft itself. I remain skeptical of that, but crew training is what I was told it was here for and I for one welcome it. A real treat to have a 744 back where they belong again.

And, whilst not an especially juicy frame, today's visitor from Paris was a welcome scheme. Nice of them to give trophy an advance taste of where it'll be living for the next four years when Gareth lifts it in Qatar! ;)

Thanks, as always, for taking the time. Any and all comments welcome :thumb:
