Phoenix Sky Harbor Arizona

Post by Bat 21 » Thu Dec 17, 2015 5:25 pm

Spent a few December days in sunny Phoenix .

The airport is one of the most photographer friendly in the world - these shots were taken from the roof of the 3 main terminal car parks.

Traffic is frequent but repetitive - mainly AA narrow body airbus in both AA & old US airways schemes, but the good light makes it worth an hour or two.

Good place for AA "Special Schemes" like this PSA example

The cheeriest "set brakes" signal I have ever seen :)

Southwest were much in evidence - even have their own mini terminal

Guess this one has done a few sandy/dusty approaches

This last one is actually down Tucson way (Pima Air & Space Museum) - the 787 was used for extensive testing hence now a museum piece due to stresses on the airframe.

A word of advice for anyone shooting from the roof of the T4 car park : don't do it if you are hungry - there must be a barbeque establishment vent from the terminal below & the sound of my rumbling stomach drowned out even the MD90 departure

Thanks for looking & best wishes for Christmas

There's a reasonable amount of variety there - more than an hour or two I would have thought! Interesting to see the PSA retrojet, and the Delta MD-90 and 717. Nicely photographed too.

I always enjoy looking at pictures from Sky Harbor, a very photogenic location and this set does not disappoint. In particular the retro PSA A320 is a real treat.

Certainly one to add to the bucket list of places to go.

Thanks for posting them
