Hi Kevin, thanks for the comments. I had quite a lot of 'soft' photos and I'm about to check my settings on the photos as I think the focussing mode moved so it was not set to centre, need to be sure then resolve it before Tuesday (Biggin Hill BoB75 day).

I did seem busy and the car parks were very full but as it was my first visit I don't know what it's normally like. Was good value, not sure how many were there for the aircraft and how many for the tanks, some started leaving soon after the Vulcan but we left at about 4.15 before the final 'tank battle' and our car park was still pretty full (about 70 - 80%) so the battle was obviously a big attraction. We were on the main road to Maidstone 5 minutes after starting the car engine!

EDIT - setting were exactly as they were for my pics at STN on 2nd August so I'm puzzled! Any ideas anybody - dust in the atmosphere (harvest), a bit of heat haze even high up or is it something to do with the lens? I did set the aperture adjustment to +1 because of the dark camouflage on some of the aircraft but that doesn't usually make any differece

I think it was mostly conditions Andy. The photos I took of the Vulcan when it was the other of the airfield show how strong the heat haze was. Any shots I took of anything at ground level were ok, up in the air not so much. Have a look here https://www.flickr.com/photos/126703467 ... 4288621322. The last seven photos were taken on Saturday. They are the best of the rest that I might be able to rescue at some time.
I am a regular visitor to Headcorn Aerodrome, mostly on Sundays as it gives me a chance to practice photographing aircraft. You never know what might show up there either. It was my first time to a scheduled event at Headcorn though.
