Part 2 of my photo-log features the many Russian airlines that visit, mostly with western equipment these days but still nice to see.

Really nice collection Dennis! Can I ask where they were taken from? I’ve just spent two days trying to find a hotel in Antalya for next next year but I need all inclusive because of the Kids!

Hi Dan,
The shots were not taken from my hotel but from various vantage points on the final approaches to the parallel runways. Morning shots when 36R/36C were active were taken in the area around 4, 6 & 7 in the attached spotting guide. Afternoon shots when 18L was active from the area around 11.

I stayed in the Lara Hadrianus (which was all inclusive) but there are many other options around Lara. I wasn't too fussy about the hotel as all I needed it for was food and a place to kip. I did hire a car as this is essential if you want to get to the various vantage points and if you have a radio with you to switch between the runways depending on where the flights you want to get are landing. As a guide, points 4,6 & 7 are about 20 mins for the Lara hotels and point 11 about 40 mins.
Hope that helps
Denis.

Many thanks Denis, did you notice if you could spot from any hotels in the area?

Hi Dan,
Spotting is fine from the Lara hotels when the 36 runways are in use (early morning to 11ish/1ish (changeover time varies) and again from late evening. The Hotel Lara is the one most mentioned from spotting reports as all the rooms 3rd floor and upwards give good views over the sea from where the aircraft approach. Not so good for photographs as the planes are higher.
Best regards
Denis.
