a pod of whales - Heathrow 15-09-2018
I spent a very long day at Heathrow on Saturday (long story!) and used 3 different locations for my photo mission. Lot's of pics (some not edited yet ) and I decided to start off with some that I've done now , all A.380 - aka the whale jet........
shame I didn't use a higher f number for this one, I might have got the trees in focus which would have been better:

there were fewer A.380s than on my previous visit, Thai used a T.7 and Maylasian were using 350s, Korean use 747s on Saturdays. i'll post a selection of other aircraft separately later, in the meantime you can see them all here if you wish: https://www.flickr.com/photos/125470545 ... 809567867/
I've still got all the A.320 series aircraft to go through so no idea when that will be
Thanks for looking C&C welcome

Great as usual. I particularly like the top view banking shots you do.
Enjoy Canada. You will get some great shots.
Pete.

thanks Pete, I enjoy searching for good locations for them and then trying to actually get the pics.
i hope to get some good pics in Canada. The big lens will stay behind though, just taking the EF100-400 for whale watching (not this kind ) and other wildlife.

Brilliant set Andy!
Absolute lovely shots, shame about the trees in the first one but you still managed a clear view of the 380 (if that was mine the trees would be in focus but the 380 wouldn't!) Surprising how very white the engines are on the Eithad 380 as seen in picture 4.
Loved all of them but a favorite would be the second to last one, the Qatar 380 bank shot
Last visit I had on a Saturday was the same, not many 380's, I was beginning to wonder if they were still about as the first Qatar was a A330 or something, and what seemed like a stream of BA 747's as if they all returned to traffic, then finally saw a BA A380 in the evening!

Re: a pod of whales - Heathrow 15-09-2018
thanks James - the first one was a deliberate attempt to 'frame' the aircraft with the trees in the foreground but I should have upped the f number to increase the depth of field but I thought I would still include it to show the possibilities from that location - the lift offs worked a bit better as the tress were further and aircraft nearer but need practice - once I increased the f number nothing else went that low to the teees unfortunately so I didn't get to prove it . The 5th one down was a second or two later without the trees so maybe I should have put them in sequence for comparison rather than spread them about.james143611 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:53 pmBrilliant set Andy!

Great selection of "fat birds"!!!! I only saw 4 all day on Thurs, and not a single BA one! Was surprised how many BA 744s there were in comparison
