Snowy Manchester 1 March 2018

Post by EGNH1909 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:30 pm

Drove over to Manchester to catch the swiss A340 which was due to depart from Air Livery. Due to the weather it didnt leave (the beast from the east was in full flow at the time-minus 2 with a 40 mph easterly wind - felt like minus 9). Stuck around for a couple of hours -just a few from the visit with a bit of snow in the pictures.

G-JZBD Jet 2 737 -This took off earlier and went into the hold for a couple of hours before returning to land.

Well done for braving the cold. Strange the Swiss didn't depart - you would have thought they were used to such conditions! Good to see the four-engined heavies on snow clearing duties, and always a pleasure to see a retrojet.

Cheers for that- it certainly was challenging- there were'nt many of us about.
Re the A340, I believe it was because they could'nt bring the mobile scaffolding out from the hangar to get the aircraft out, because of the high winds (everything else was taking off ok)

A great set of pictures in bad conditions.

Re the jet 2 it diverted in from newcastle the day before after having a tail strike. It took off on the day you photographed it from Manchester and had a second tail strike on departure.

Regards

Wow very nice collection

Love the Virgin 747 shots  but that Aer Lingus retro shot is also one of my favorites, it looks good with the snow dusting around it

James.
