Nearly didn't make today as I was supposed to be looking after my Grandson, but Grandma let me off for a couple of hours. Frozen - Yes, Windy - Yes, Worth it - definitely.

And then it appeared. You could actually hear it for ages warming up the engines before it finally appeared. From over at the Southside the air was filled with a noticeable vibration as it taxied out. It must have shaken the teeth out of people closer to it.

Nice shots Mike, it looks great in the sunshine with the dark sky behind.

Wonderful set including the more regular types. Maybe one day I'll get to see the An-22.

Great pictures. I stood in my garden in Edgeley in the rain watching its approach on plane finder until it passed over. Although it was dark it didn't matter as the sound it made was amazing! As a veteran I remember the days when you could identify an aircraft by the noise of it's engines. Not like today when everything sounds alike.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. As an aside,, I walked back to the car after it left,,, a good 10-15 minutes walk and as I got into the car I could still hear it as it looped round the airport on it's way to Leipzig - noisy or what ! !
