Inverness - 41 years ago

.

I came across some long misplaced 4.5" x 3.25" prints, taken in heavy rain and low, dense, cloud, at Dalcross, in August 1978. The photos were taken on small format 110 film, in a Kodak Instamatic 330 camera. Sorry about the quality, but they may interest some, on this forum.

Those prints have lasted well. My first photos on 110 film, wouldn't be worth scanning.

They're much better than my old 110 prints from that time and that's the first photo of a Caravelle at Inverness that I've ever seen.
Great stuff Phillip, do you have any more oldies from Inverness? :)

never mind the quality of the prints Philip, it's the quality of the content that is important on photos of this age and that content is superb - well found and thanks for sharing them

Thanks for the kind comments, gents, despite the print quality.

Summer of 1978, had considerably more wet days, than dry days - unfortunately it poured for the whole week that I was up North - just happened to pull into Dalcross when a couple of aircraft were in front of the old timber terminal. I got nothing, at Kinloss or Lossiemouth!

Mike - It was the first Caravelle I had seen in the flesh, but not the first to visit Inverness. I know that July and August '78 saw a number of Caravelle charter movements, by both LTU and Sterling, as follows; LTU : 6/7 - D-ADAP ; 20/7 - D-ADAV ; 3/8 - D-ADAP ; 17/8 - D-ADAV ; 31/8 D-D-ADAP. Sterling : 13/7 - OY-STI & OY-SAG ; 27/7 - OY-SAD ; 10/8 - OY-SAA & OY-STH ; 24/8 - OY-STI. I didn't get to Dalcross very often, but have a few B&W prints of HS748s, BAC111s & Boeing-Vertol 234s, which I may put up in next couple of weeks.

Phillip
