Slingsby T65 Sport Vega Outlanding Dundee 1988

Post by Uuoret » Wed Aug 21, 2019 12:57 pm

Me again.

On a Silver Distance attempt, I got caught very low over the centre of Dundee (800ft...!!)

There was an aircraft on the runway at the airport, so had no option but to land in Lochee Park. It was tight.

Fire, Police, Dog Handlers, Radio Tay and the Dundee Courier all came to see me....

Aboyne on Royal Deeside. Somehow I had been elected as chairman of the Shell Gliding Club in Aberdeen.

The event was quite popular - I got given a can of Kestrel lager from a friendly passer-by, and a lovely old lady came to say hello, went home, brought back a tablecloth and we had a little picnic. Later in the evening before I got picked up, I was given a fish supper and a can of Coke!!!!

The folks in Dundee were very kind to me.

Got a right b*llocking from the CFI, as he found out from the article in the Dundee Courier the next morning before he got to the airfield!!!

Must have been my 15 minutes of fame..... ;) ;)

Wow, what a great story, that's fantastic.

Did you still have your wallet after the guy gave you a can of Kestrel?

Great pictures. The One Slingsby I never got my hands on. I have flown Grasshopper, Cadet, Barge, Prefect, Swallow, Kestrel, Falke and Capstan.

Good skills. Albeit I am certain you could diamond height a brick at Aboyne and Portmoak.
