Birmingham Car Park 5 on the day

Post by james143611 » Tue Jun 11, 2019 2:46 pm

Hello all,

Can you turn up on the day with a car for Car Park 5 or is it pre-book only? Website mentions a lot about pre-booking but nothing that specifically states 'pre-booking is not essential'

On a drive up north on Saturday and depending on the weather I'm thinking of pulling off the M42 into the car park and trying the viewing area for a couple of hours max before motoring on up the M42

I suspect it gets very full too so being able to park is hit and miss I'd imagine?

Any help appreciated!

Yes, you can turn up and park in CP5 without pre-booking although it's not that cheap

Upto 1hr is £5.50, 2hrs is £11

The cheaper options is the MSCP on the Elmdon side, 1hr is £2, upto 2hrs is £3.50 and upto 5hrs is £5 although the top floor is currently closed

Thank you very much!

Looked at that on a map looks very easy to get to and not far from Motorway which is ideal for a short stop, I assume then it's used regularly by spotters and they don't mind? I know some multi storey car parks you have to be discreet or you get turfed out I assume it's a bit different there?

Also do you know is it coins only or is card an option?

Thank you kindly for the response!

Yes, the MSCP on the Elmdon side is regularly used by the local spotters/photographers. It's coins only and it's pay & display.
