increasing number of adverts on facebook???

Is it just me or are there more and more adverts and 'recommended for you' posts on FB these days? - it's getting to the point where it's hard to spot the posts from friends or groups I belong to.
A quick count up of the 25 most recent topics on my page found 9 adverts and 'suggestions for you' i.e. me - none of which were relevant!
It's starting to get silly!

I've noticed a huge increase in it as well recently especially when I click on 'Groups'. That should take you to all of the latest posts in groups that you're a member of, now it also includes loads of recommendations to other groups as well.
Surely there's something buried deep in the settings to stop all this?

If there is then I wish I could find it. I seem to be getting loads of American links at present for all sorts of things. At least it's not porn otherwise I'd have to shut it down every time my wife walks in

Definitely an increase in unwanted 'Suggested for you' adverts and propaganda. If algorithms were supposedly the way your interests were determined, then 50% of what I see is non-algorithm - plain rubbish really. Sometimes posts by my friends are way down the scroll and often a day or two after they were posted.
