Nobby Stiles has died aged 78

Post by Mike » Fri Oct 30, 2020 4:19 pm

More sad news today. :(

World Cup-winning England midfielder Nobby Stiles has died aged 78 after a long illness.

The former Manchester United player had prostate cancer and advanced dementia.

Stiles is the seventh member of the England team that started the 1966 World Cup final against West Germany to die, after captain Bobby Moore, Alan Ball, Ray Wilson, Gordon Banks, Martin Peters and Jack Charlton.

Manchester-born Stiles was made an MBE in 2000.

:(

Another football great gone, will always remember him and Balley dancing around Wembley after they won the World Cup in 1966 and that toothless smile, and like a few on this site, I feel blessed to have seen him play on a number of occasions in real life against my beloved blues. R.I.P. Nobby.

Sad Sad News.
