Facebook in the real world.....

I am trying to make friends outside of facebook whilst applying the same principles.

Therefore every day I walk down the street and tell passers-by what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I will do later and with whom.

I give them pictures of my family, my dog and of me gardening, watering the lawn, standing in front of landmarks, driving around town, having lunch and doing what anybody and everybody does every day. I also listen to their conversations, give them a ‘thumbs up’ and tell them I like them.

And it works just like facebook! I already have four people following me: two police officers, a private investigator and a psychiatrist!

Very funny but also frightening how true a reflection of what Facebook actually is! Never really thought it through like that - although I dont use it because that's what it is. Each to their own but I don't need the world to know every time I perform bodily functions or my cats lick their bits etc etc etc.

very good

I avoid facebook for friends and my account is mainly for info on shows, display teams and other interests, I don't want thousands of friends request from people i don't know or don't like and i dont want to know and don't really care what they did last night

thanks guys, firstly I must admit it wasn't my own creation. This was published in a newspaper somewhere or other recently and I typed it rather than have to copy, save, upload, download etc.

It is a very good summary of what facebook has become. I use FB but can't believe some of the dross that people take the time to type. I tend to do a sweep of the 'friends' once in a while and if I haven't seen anything relevant from them for a while I unfriend. i had one or two who used to put absolutely everything they did on FB , they are long gone. It's also a bit stupid to tell everybody you will be on holiday for 2 weeks so the house will be empty on a village forum - and yes I've seen it happen!
