50 years ago today - Who's Next!
On 14th August 1971 The Who released their masterpiece Who's Next, in my opinion one of the greatest albums ever and still my favourite, I still listen to it nowadays and the final track (Won't get fooled again) or part of it at least, is the ringtone on my phone.
It was released in the USA on 14th August but we had to wait another 13 days for it to go on sale in the UK - an amazing album and not a single bad track (and the ones they left out were pretty good as well).

enjoy!

Re: 50 years ago today - Who's Next!
Was expecting something a bit different with the subject title.....
Not quite the 14th, but on 17th August 1971 I made my first visit to Heathrow. Always been interested in aircraft, but this got me hooked.
A viewing area, getting up close, smelling the fumes, seeing the range of types and colour schemes.
Went with a couple of friends in the Scouts who were in to it.
Regular trips followed - Red Rover bus tickets, there's another oldie.
Using the trains we progressed to Gatwick, Luton and Stansted. Buses or bikes to Biggin Hill. Happy days.
Pete.

Re: 50 years ago today - Who's Next!
I saw them at Wembley Arena with my brother in the early 2000s and he wore ear plugs for most of the concert just to quieten it down a bit - he said it was still very loud. I didn't and my ears were ringing for days - that may have been the catalyst for my tinnitus unless it was a lightning with full afterburners going about 40 yards away at a Bruntingthorpe CWJ day around the same time (and I had ear plugs in on that occasion)! They were often regarded as being the loudest live band in the world and that probably explains why Pete Townshend suffers from deafness.
They are an amazing band and just wish I had managed to see them in the original line up - I tried many times to get tickets but always failed, that was before the age of the internet and online booking.

Like you Andy I could never get tickets in the 70s/80s.It was easier to get tickets for the England v Scotland games at Wembley.Did however get to see them around 2000 at Glasgow SECC when Zak Starkey was drumming..They put on a fantastic show that night. At least I got the chance to see 3 of them.

Hi Andy while looking for something else in the dark depths of the study .Found the ticket stub for the Glasgow concert it was 5 Nov 2000 and was only £13:50.I paid more per round at the bar than that and there were only 4 of us. 2 groups both brilliant for less than a round of drinks.Amazing value.
