Viewing At Mombasa?

Post by Danseaman » Sat Feb 05, 2011 12:07 pm

?Hi everyone,

With a 2 week holiday in Kenya approaching for August, I was wondering if photography is allowed at Mombasa? I went to Mexico in 2006 where photography wasn't allowed even within the terminal building! I have searched the web and there isn't no information about Mombasa, anyone had any experience here?

Many thanks :D

http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.s ... entry=true

There's a few recent shots on A.net so photography seems to be allowed.

I actually know Jonathan Zaninger so I'll ask him if he had any problems.
Cheers,

Charles

Ok Charles, I've seen some pictures around and have e-mail 3 people about their photos, and the case has been that they are pilot  It will be rather annoying spending 2.5 hours there and not being allow photos! Many thanks again Charles and I look forward to your reply :D

Well I spoke to Jonathan this is it summed up:

"Photography is not allowed anywhere in Africa, you can try, but it's tricky ..
when i was in Accra, i had to pay the guard of a car park, to make some photos
but i've been arrested by some guy near the car park.
Then you have to be very diplomatic, and always have 2 memory cards
Yeah mombasa, i was there as a crew, so i shooted quickly, in uinform, and went back to the plane asap
anyshots i did in tense country, was hidden in the aircraft, or very quickly
mombasa is a military airfield as well.. so he has to be veeery careful"

On windows views:

"yes, he can i think, but the best thing, is to shoot, and put the camera back in the bag asap .. and take the camera out, only for the time to shoot, and don't act like you are hiding"

So its up to you mate - he doesnt recommend it though!

HTH
Cheers,

Charles
