Isle of Wight - Sandown and Bembridge logs 27-06-2024

I was on the Isle of Wight for a holiday last week and managed a trip out to Sandown and Bembridge, not very much to see but here is what I logged:

Sandown - the hangars were closed so just these 4 outside, I asked if I could walk round the hangars but was refused. G-BJDE was outside the hangar by the access road and the others were on the south side along the tree line, I was there from 11.00 until 11.30

then on to Bembridge where I had a nice lunch on the patio of the Propeller Inn. I logged these between 12.45 and 13.30, timed to get the bus back to Sandown!

Nice logs Andy, Bembridge is a lot quieter than the last (and only) time I was there. 1973 to be exact, on a private tour around the Islander production line - I'd sent them a letter and asked them nicely if we could visit and they were happy to oblige.

I'll dig out my log and post it when I get chance.

We stayed overnight in the Youth Hostel in Sandown then did the College Of Air Training at Hamble the next day - remember them with their Chipmunks, Cherokees & Barons?
