Dodging the Showers at Duxford

Post by Professor_M » Sat Jun 07, 2025 6:46 pm

A few from today at an overcast Duxford. Fortunately the rain mostly held off until after the flying had concluded.

Peter Kuypers opened the show in his rather spritely Beech D17S Staggerwing...

An excellent formation display from two Mk.IX Spitfires - Paul Bonhomme in MH434 & Brian Smith in D-Day veteran ML417. It's been good to see the often reclusive Comanche Spitfires appearing at both of the flying days so far this year...

Having already displayed the Wildcat earlier on, Pete Kynsey appeared again, this time in his Cosmic Wind joining Anna Walker in the Jungmann for their usual pairs arrival...

Fighter Aviation Engineering's Spitfire FRXIV & Thunderbolt closed the show with a brief pairs appearance before splitting into their own routines. This became rather disjointed when three of the L-4s appeared to make a desperate dash for home ahead of the incoming bad weather, leaving the fighters to go and hold whilst they cleared out the way. Dave Puleston's Spitfire routine felt the closest of the day up at the M11 end - just a shame the sun was hiding! Gabriel Barton took Nellie to Cosford for tomorrow's airshow straight after its display...

A challenging day for photos, but enjoyable to watch.

Thanks for looking.

another nice set, you're doing well this airshow season! I like the angle on the two Spitfires.

The last 2 images aren't showing for some reason or other, I've found them in your Duxford flickr album though (I think they are the ones)
thanks for posting them
