I ventured along to a field outside Duxford for a few hours on Saturday afternoon to watch some of the flying, weather was a bit poor but managed some photos, here a selection.....

I'm not sure what the point is of so called wingwalking, who actually looks at the girls on the wings rather than the aircraft? They don't walk they just hang there and wave their arms about a bit. Gone are the days of minimal tethering so they might fall off!

and some military to finish, 1/2000th of a second and still one was blurred - they weren't 'arf low which meant the tree line added to the effect (at least I thought so)....

Some nice shots there Andy but a shame about the terrible light.
I've never quite understood what wing-standing is all about either!

Looks like you captured the mix very well Andy. If you can find a space there are one or two good spots around the outside. Never was a fan of the term "Naughty Field". I have parked on the verge several times over the years when it was allowed and also for non-event days. I did find a good spot on the Royston end once which was good for run-ins although a fair way from the display of course.

thanks Ian, I was quite lucky with that location and it was easy parking, worst part was that I had to drive past Duxford to get home and they were holding the A505 traffic to let the show traffic out

As for my location, if you look at the ordnance survey map at Thriplow, about a mile north west of the airfield there's a road (Church Street) that that runs round the south east side of the village and at the south east corner there's a footpath that goes south east round a farm down to the A505, I parked in Church Street - very wide grass verges and loads of room, only about 8 cars when I returned, and walked down the footpath to about 150 metres from the A505 where another footpath goes east, I was on the track there. I might have been a bit better another 100m or so further back because of the high trees but they did create some hedge hopping impressions on some photos. It was pretty good although it was about 3pm or a bit later before the sun came round to light the aircraft, I'd certainly consider going there again although if I could find a similar place just east of the M11 and north of the A505 that would probably be a bit better especially for the aircraft banking and turning in towards the airfield.

Thanks for that Andy - duly noted. I find Google maps and street view invaluable sometimes to try and find somewhere out of the way but still good for photos.
