thanks Paul, I thought they were slightly so your comment bears that out and now I've looked again it seems more noticeable.
I tried to lighten the shadows (using a shadow highlighter) because of the harsh summer light which was making them very contrasty but I have probably overdone it due to my lack of skills. I use it sometimes on photos in dull weather when the undersides are also very dark but I find it a bit hard to judge. I'm surprised it's taken so long for anyone to comment on it.

Any advice on how much highlight adjustment (if any) I should add would be welcome.

As an aside, I was at Lakenheath on Thursday and most of my later pics around midday were only fit for the trash folder as the sun was almost directly above and straight down the runway so the F.15s were almost black underneath but surfaces exposed to the sun were very bright, They would take exceptional editing skills to recover them - something I don't have :(

Hi Andy I tend to use the dehaze filter in Lightroom to boost the contrast after upping the shadows and then pull down whichever colours get blown with the HLS saturation filters
