Hi,
I am for holidays near Loch Ness and saw almost every day a CG A.189 flying.
The 13th I read G-MCGN arr at the airport. A few hours before I saw one near the hills south of Inverness, SBS -radar gave G-MCGM. Are both based here or more?
Can I have also seen G-MCGI ??
The 16th at 8PM one arr at Inverness and a yellow H-145 was near it on the ramp.
Anyone for those 2?
This morning at 9.30AM I saw one landing at Inverness airport, any ID?
Erik

Re: Coast Guard Inverness
Hi Erik, there's 2 (or possibly 3) CG AW189s based at Inverness but I'm not sure what the other ones are at present apart from G-MCGN, 'GX has just departed Inverness so that could have been present when you were in the area. They get moved between bases quite often, which doesn't help to solve your query.
The yellow H145 will be one of the two operated by Gama Aviation for the Scottish Ambulance Service, I'm not sure which one is based at Inverness currently, but will find out for you (the other is based at Glasgow).
Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks Mike,
This is what I saw and read at home from pictures I took:
13th August: 1 A189 over mountain in Grantown-on-Spey 4PM: should be G-MCGM from Dundee to INV.
At 5PM in Inverness 1x A189 overhead, no clue.
G-MCGN arr INV airport 7.10PM
14th August: over Loch Ness to INV 12.18h G-MCGN?
15th August: AS350 Red with yellow from INV over Invermoriston AM, any clue ID?
16th August: G-MCGX arr INV airport 7.50PM
and H-145 on ramp
17th August: G-MCGN over Glen Etive ca 6PM
18th August: 1x A189 arr INV airport ca 9.30AM. No ID in any flightplan????

Re: Coast Guard Inverness
Hi Erik,
The AW189s that are based at Inverness currently are G-MCGN & X and the AS350 was probably one of the PDG Helicopters fleet. PDG have a hangar in the industrial estate next to the airport and there's usually 3 or 4 based there at any one time, they have several others which operate all over the UK on electricity cable inspection duties, fish farms and other work. I'm not sure which one you saw, but I'll make enquiries for you.
I'm still trying to find out which H145 is currently based at Inverness, but I'll let you know when I find out.

Re: Coast Guard Inverness
Erik, the AS350 should be G-ORKY, here's some photos of it :- https://www.airliners.net/search?keywords=G-ORKY
I've had the AW189s for your time in the area confirmed :- "During the period there were three AW189s at Inverness. Throughout the period MCGN was based. MCGM departed there 14 Aug for maintenance at Aberdeen and was replaced on 15 Aug by MCGX."
Also, the H145 was G-SASN.
I hope that helps.

Re: Coast Guard Inverness
Hi Mike,
Thanks for all your help and confirmation!
I have my doubths about this AS350. I thought it was more darker Red all over and had a yellow cheatline.
So luckily I saw all 3 A189s.

Re: Coast Guard Inverness
Hi Erik, I can't help any further with the AS350, that's the only yellow/red one that my contacts know of.
