Farnborough International Airshow 2010 - Local Traffic Information
This year, travel to and from the Airshow will be different and is hoped these changes will help to reduce the impact of show traffic on local residents.

The AA is responsible for traffic management throughout this year's Airshow. The show week is from 19 to 25 July, with the public days on 24 and 25 July.

Park Road one-way system 18th - 25th July
From midday on Sunday 18th July to 10pm on Sunday 25th July, the Park Road one-way system (from its junction with Reading Road to its junction with Lynchford Road) will be reversed.
Lynchford Road one-way system 19th – 25th July (7am - 2pm)
A one-way system will run on the A3011 Lynchford Road towards the Airfield. Traffic heading away from the Airshow will be diverted along Old Lynchford Road, Winchester Street, Netley Street, Alexandra Road, Reading Road and Park Road.
It is expected that the diversion will be removed by noon daily. However, this will depend on the amount of traffic entering the show.
During the diversion, the western end of Old Lynchford Road (from the junction with Lynchford Road to its junction with Winchester Street) will be one-way to ease the traffic flow.
Lynchford Road one-way system 24th – 25th July (3pm – 8pm)
A one-way system will run on the A3011 Lynchford Road away from the airfield between its junction with Alexandra Road and its junction with the Lynchford interchange (A331).
Road closures:
The following road closures will take place at the same time as the 7am to 2pm Lynchford Road one-way system from 19th July to 25th July:
* Netley Street at its junction with Winchester Street
* Lynchford Road at its junction with Old Lynchford Road (western end)
* Southampton Street at its junction with Old Lynchford Road
* Osborne Road at its junction with Old Lynchford Road
* Peabody Road at its junction with Lynchford Road
The following road closures will take place at the same time as the 3pm to 8pm Lynchford Road one-way system on the 24th and 25th July:
* Alexandra Road at its junction with Lynchford Road
* A331 northbound Blackwater Valley Road off-slip at Lynchford interchange
* A331 southbound off-slip at Lynchford interchange junction with Lynchford Rd (flyover)
The following road closures will take place for the whole Airshow week:
* Netley Street at its junction with the A325 Farnborough Road
* Church Road West at its junction with the A325 Farnborough Rd
* Queens Road at its junction with Peabody Road
* Closeworth Road at its junction with Park Road
* Lynchford Road at its junction with Park Road (northbound only)
Prohibition of turns:
Between 19th July and 25th July, the following turning movements will not be allowed:
* All right hand turns on the A325 Farnborough Road between its junction with Boundary Road to its junction with Lynchford Road (Queens Roundabout)
* Right hand turns from Salesian View, South Street, and Whites Road onto Park Road
* Left hand turns from Falkland Court and Lynchford Road onto Park Road
From 7am until 2pm between 19th July and 25th July, the following turning movements will not be allowed:
* Right hand turn from Alexandra Road into Netley Street
* Right hand turn from Netley Street into Alexandra Road
* Right hand turn from Alexandra Road into Queens Road
* Right hand turn from Queens Road into Alexandra Road
From 3pm until 8pm on the 24th and 25th July, the following turning movements will not be allowed:
* Right hand turn from Peabody Road and Morris Road into Lynchford Road
Additional restrictions

As well as the restrictions above, further restrictions may apply throughout the week of the show.
Parking restrictions and taxis:
It is expected that there will be additional parking in residential streets surrounding the Airshow. Therefore, extra parking restrictions will be in place to reduce congestion on the major routes and in some of the residential roads near the show.
While we cannot legally reserve parking spaces on the highway for residents, we now have the power to deal with any vehicle obstructing vehicle accesses into properties. If this situation arises, pleas call our parking management team on 01252 398 290.
Taxis that are not registered in Rushmoor are not allowed to ply for trade in the borough. Our licensing team will be monitoring the situation, but if need more information about the taxi trade during the Airshow please call 01252 398 000.

Roadworks:
All roadworks on key routes into Rushmoor have been suspended until after the Airshow.
Alternative route for local traffic:
Traffic travelling both north and south in Farnborough is encouraged to use Alexandra Road (B3403).
Traffic between the A31 at Runfold, near Farnham and Junction 4 of the M3 will be encouraged to use the A331 (Blackwater Valley Relief Road – BVR).
As with previous Airshows, we appreciate that additional traffic will cause inconvenience to local residents. We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

Come and see the show by train! There are a number of stations close to the show site and shuttle bus services will run from our stations at Farnborough and Aldershot direct to the showground.
Some of our long-distance trains will make extra stops at Farnborough to make it easier to get to the show. More details will be posted here once finalised.

Farnborough International Airshow Radio – 87.7FM
Farnborough International Airshow Radio (FIFM) will be live and on-air from 12 to 25 July 2010 on 87.7FM.
Programming will be specifically focused around the Airshow and the exciting daily breaking news that an event the size of FIA generates. Substantiated by industry contribution, the daily broadcasts will include latest show up-dates, interviews and the all important traffic reports as well as popular music. The daily flying display commentary will also be streamed, live from the show. The radio broadcasts 24 hours a day and has a 15 mile reach from Farnborough Aerodrome.
FIFM radio is run and managed by the Farnborough College of Technology. The project forms part of the student curriculum and provides valuable work experience that assists in their professional development.
The FIFM studio is located in the Media Centre in Hall 1A and will be staffed from Monday 12 July through the end of the show, so come along to file your news items or make arrangements for interviews. Police looking forward to Farnborough International Airshow

A major police operation will swing into action on Monday (July 14) as the crowds gather for the 46th Farnborough International Airshow.
Around 100 officers will be on duty daily in and around the airfield site between Monday and Sunday (July 20), to ensure that the thousands expected at the world-famous event enjoy a safe and peaceful show.
Trade guests and visitors will converge on the site from Monday to Friday, before the gates are opened to the public on Saturday and Sunday (July 19 and 20) when crowds of 80,000 are expected.
Extra high visibility police patrols in the area have already begun and will continue throughout the week, with local officers and teams from Specialist Operations providing extra resilience and skills.
Local officers and teams from the Roads Policing Unit will be working to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, in support of the local authority’s traffic management plan.
An operation using the Automatic Number Plate Recognitions system (ANPR) will also be in place on key routes around the site to assist in crime prevention and detection.
Show-goers are strongly advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey as parking and walking to the arena can take time.
Plus with the weather forecast uncertain, people are advised to keep a close eye on the forecast and dress appropriately.
Motorists are warned to expect congestion and resultant delays in the area of the show for the seven day period, and anyone not going to the show is strongly advised to avoid the area.
The affected roads will be clearly signed and relevant diversions in place. As always, all car users are reminded not to leave valuables in their vehicles.
As per previous years, a one-way system will be implemented on Lynchford Road (A3011) in a westerly direction.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted along Old Lynchford Road, Winchester Street, Netley Street, Alexandra Road, Reading Road and Park Road.
This system will only be operational only between 7am and midday daily.
Old Lynchford Road (western end) from the junction with Lynchford Road to its junction with Winchester Street will be made one way while the diversion is in operation to help traffic flow.
Park Road from its junction with Reading Road to its junction with Old Lynchford Road will be made one-way from midday on Sunday, July 13 until 5pm on Sunday, July 20.
The Park Road one-way system will be reversed during the airshow.
Chief Superintendent Mark Chatterton, police silver commander for the airshow, said: “Farnborough Airshow is a fantastic event for Hampshire, which brings people into our county from all over the world.
“By working with our partner agencies, our aim is to ensure that everyone enjoys the air show in a safe and secure environment, and the impact on the local community is kept to a minimum.
“Officers will provide high visibility patrols in and around the event and will be engaging with the public throughout the duration of the show.
“But, as always, in order to keep people safe and sound, we need members of the local community and those attending the event to be our eyes and ears, and report to us any suspicious activity.
“By working together we can ensure that this wonderful showpiece event is enjoyed by everybody.
