I've now produced a calendar for the SPOTM competitions for 2023, I hope you will find it interesting.
The basic rule for all the competitions is that the subject must be civilian registered when the photo was taken.
January: any civil aircraft photographed in 2022 which has not been placed in a photo comp so not in Hall of fame
February : It's a year since Ukraine was invaded so lets have an Antonov month, any Antonov aircraft (not necessarily Ukraine registered)
March: An aircraft with a registration beginning with V, there are loads of options and some are used as registrations of convenience so the world is your oyster on this one
April : any Chinese registered aircraft
May: DHCs - any De Havilland Canada designed Aircraft (DHC-1 to DHC.8)
June: warbirds and vintage designs that first flew pre 1945
July: It's holiday time so any British registered holiday airline aircraft past or present
August: Doncaster airport closed in 2022 so a photo taken at any airfield in the world that is longer active i.e. permanently closed (nostalgia time).
September: we did this about 8 years ago and it was very popular (with 23 entries) so let's try it again:
‘Two’s company’ – any 2 aircraft in the same photo, they don’t have to be the same or anything like that and can be helicopters or hot air balloons if you wish , the only rule is that there must be more than one and less than 3 aircraft in the photo. So who can compose the most pleasing entry with just 2 aircraft? As usual both must comply with the civilian registered rule, i.e. can be warbirds as long as they have civilian registrations. If you are using a photo which includes a warbird please state the civil registration with your entry.
October an aircraft displaying at a 2023 airshow
November: 2023 will (incredibly) be 20 years since the final Concorde flight so any photo of a Concorde (inside or out!)
December: Christmas Stars - any aircraft with STAR or a word connected with stars (such as constellation or astra) in it's name or in the case of an airliner in it's airline's name (aircraft in FULL Star Alliance scheme are also acceptable)
Hopefully those subjects are interesting but not to specific so you can easily find an entry. If you have any comments please either post them here or PM me.
many thanks and get searching
Andy
