It changed last night halfway through an image download. I can't record my exact thoughts on a public forum but I wasn't impressed. Thought something horrible had got into my PC.

Reserving judgement for now but broadly I'm not that impressed. May just be the shock of the new.

I'd like the option to switch back to the tried and tested.

Has the notion of 'pro' gone out of the window?

EDIT Fifty dollars to remove ads I didn't ask for in the first place is taking the :grr: but one terabyte of space has got to be a good thing.

Cheers Mike.

ALL I want to do is change the appearance of my own photostream page to something more organised like it was before - - looks like a Google image page now. Other than that, it's more or less as it was although most of the changes seem to be in your membership/payments. I was 'pro' which enabled unlimited uploads, but with 1 terabyte - do I need to pay??

Haven't seen any advertising as yet??

Cannot find the preferences option, maybe it's not an option now.....

You just get used to something... then it changes.... uurrgghh.....

Amen to that. I'd just change the look of mine and I rather liked it. Haven't found a way to change it yet.

Good question. Only on Saturday night I'd decided to go 'Pro' to get additional access to images and groups. So glad I didn't! Do you still have access to stats?

A little bit of me thinks it's churlish to complain about a free site. However... :pop:

Stats link still there - very top left banner under 'you'.

Also, if you click 'edit' - 4th option to the right, on the banner next to your 'buddy' icon on the left, it takes you back to the page layout you had, or it did for me, but seem it reverts to new layout each time you go to your photostream.

My 'pro' runs until November.....

Got this email from Flikr today:

"As a Pro Member, your subscription remains the same. You'll enjoy unlimited space for your photos and videos, detailed stats and an ad-free experience. However, you can switch to a Free account before August 20, 2013. "

Gives me a bit of time to see if it is worth keeping the Pro membership!

Well as someone who only has about 450 photos on there anyway, the main thing it does for me is show me just how much I've improved in a couple of years! Some of my old stuff is already being deleted. What a waste of space! And also that I miss the mounds at the top end of Manchester which are now car parks...

But in all seriousness, I have no real issues with the aesthetics, just that to load all of those photos at the same time is taking a little while!
The name says Sheffield but I'm actually South Wales based now! Also often seen at Southend, Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham.

Good feedback all :thumb:

What bugged me were the changes to the layout WITHOUT any guidance notes on how to delete an image, to add to a set/group after upload, many simple task were left for you to find out for yourself.

FYI, the three little dots and the bottom right of your image - click on that to delete and update to a group/set.

I've found the best way to do this is from the upload screen. Tags, groups, set, titles and upload all at the same time. Saves loads of time allocating to individual groups after uploading.

Ah yes - usually do it that way too mate but often my senior years make me miss things out..... :thumb:

I'm happy with the interface now I can navigate around it, but I still cannot get full screen mode with my images (not that important), but I can with one or two other members' images. I notice when you click on an image in your screen, you got the image with the black background, with a good quality image, the click again for lightbox with really does improve the image again.

Mike, I notice your photostream has lines of 3 and sometimes 4 images across the page, where as mine only has 3... and reason for this?? I have my dispaly in Flickr set a max, and generally upload at 1800 x XXXX.

So, as I read it now.... your PRO membership no longer exists, but if you had a PRO account then cancel it now??

You can pay $49 for unlimited space and no adverts, or have a free account with 1TB of space with adverts.... Facebook style adverts... cheap and tatty rubbish.....

Cannot work that one out as Flickr announcements are as clear as school custard.....

No idea at all. All of mine are uploaded at 1600 x XXX. One of the slightly irritating things now is that some of the images have to be cropped to fit them to the new format, cutting off noses or tails.

Luckily, I decided not to part with the hard-earned so didn't go 'Pro'. I'm strictly amateur and always will be.
Marcus G wrote:cheap and tatty rubbish.....
Every now and then I get an advert showing a couple of bikini-clad bums trying to sell me something. Strangely, I've never thought to look at the rest of the ad to work out what they're advertising.

Yellow or pink school custard?

I'm starting to get used to the new interface now too. As I said before; the shock of the new.

I'm still not keen on the 'new' layout so I had a look at ipernity this morning, I've signed up for a free account just to test the water.
If I decided to carry on using ipernity I wont delete my Flickr account because of all the photo links to pics I have on forums but I'll stop uploading new pictures to it.

I did some today, It's painful to say the least. Each pic takes about 3 times as long - more clicks etc required. Saddest of all there is still no multiple uploader that I can see.

I wonder why they make these changes

I've not uploaded anything since the new interface was launched, but Andy there has always been a way to upload multiple files! It may have changed in the new interface, but previously you could either select a bunch of files and drop them on the upload page, or use the manual option that opens a file dialog box and select multiple files. All the files would then be presented on screen and you could set each field (title, description, tags, albums etc) just the once and the data for all files would be updated. Then you clicked the upload button to finally publish them.

Thanks Nick,
I think I worded it wrong. what I meant was uploading to the forum from FlickR. I would probably lose the will to take photos at all if I had to do each one separately onto FlickR

You get used to dropping 7 or 8 photos a time in to the forum, I find that not posting everything you put on Flickr on to forums, and then linking back to Flickr, helps your views/favourites too :)

These new changes, however, are a mess. Photos are now being automatically tagged - outside, aircraft, Brazilian, etc. - and I strongly advise you not to click on any of the above, nor any other automatic tag, if there are children around!

thanks Chris, trouble is you've almost tempted my curiosity to try the links :o
agree they are a mess and I hadn't even looked at tags on the pics. I guess we need to be careful with photo file names to avoid the unwanted tagging.
Bet my Tarom on a virgin in last month's SPOTM got a few hits then :)

Ah ok! I'd call that linking rather the uploading ;)

I've not used the new Flickr interface in anger, but the talk of automatic tagging is worrying.
