Nikon D90 or D200 ?

Hi
With the D70 currently away at Nikon being investigated for a shutter/mirror problem I've been doing some reading on the 'net regarding this and it appears that the repair may cost more than the camera is worth. With this in mind I've started looking around for potential replacements and have narrowed it down to either the D200 or D90, with the D90 slightly taking preference at the moment. Does anyone on here use either of these and have any experience in using these models or comments good or bad ?
Before anyone suggests it, changing to Canon isn't an option as I have a kit bag full of Nikon compatible glass
Regards
Steve

Thanks Vortex,
The D90 is favourite at the moment especially as I've read somewhere today that it has the same sensor in it as the D300 !

Prices were around £620 a couple of weeks ago and now they've dropped a fair bit.

Thanks for that Flat cap, I been watching them myself recently as well and there's one place where they're less than £500. Unfortunately funds wont permit at the moment and probably wont for a long while yet

I have actually owned both these and both are good, but they are old technology now as things move that fast.
The D90 is a 2nd generation Nikon sensor, this sensor is the same in the D300, D300s, D3000, D5000 and D3100 this sensor is made by Sony which is what they use believe it or not !! and is also used by Canon.
The D200 is a 1st generation although a better built camera the D90 is superior on image quality.
If you find the extra money purchase the new D7000 which as superceded the D80/D90 range, the new D7000 is a 3rd generation sensor and is the first in the Nikon range to use it. The D7000 is a DX camera which actually gives you an FX view finder what you see is what you get.
But if its a choice D200 or D90, the D90 wins hands down.
If you really want to consider saving money i would look at a D40 my 12 year old son uses this most and it is incredible. I think nikon discontinued it twice and brought it back into production due to popularity. It will only take DX lenses though but my son has taken better photos than me with this !!!! On Ebay you will probably pick a body up for £150.
Look at these sites and browse the information.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, I was 99.9% swayed towards a D90 and now my mind is made up, it will be a D90 when finances allow. I would love to spend the extra cash on a better/newer model but with work being scarce at the moment (self employed) I'll stick to a D90.
