Civilian Aviation

I don't have alot of money but for Christmas I've asked for a Canon 1000D with a Tamron 70-300mm lens, it comes to £425.

The question is is this alot of good for aviation photography? I currently have a Finepix SD6500, will the Canon make a better camera?

Hi Dan, For my Christmas prezzie, I also have bought the Tamron 70-300 lens,with the canon 550d. Had a play about on it a week ago and caught a c17 at FL330, Hope mods+adims dont mind, just a sample image for Dan

Nice shot there Jorden how the EOS 550D is 18MP and the EOS 1000D is only 10, I was wondering if it would give a noticeable difference from my Finepix 6500. However thanks for your help and if anyone can help with info on the Canon 1000D then it would be useful.

Hi Dan

I personally haven't found a fault with the 1000D, I find the lens more of a limit than the camera!

I moved up from a Panasonic FZ-8 to a EOS1000D and there is a deffinate improvement in the quality, far less grain in the images and sharper results. So I can reccommend the step-up in that respect.

If you want to see some pictures taken with the camera, have a look at my posts or anything September or later in my Flickr Account / Blog.
