I know we have Airlander and Goodyear fans on here. So let's go lighter than air and see everyones blimps, lightships Zeppelins et al.

Over the years I have been to many American Sporting Events which attracts them like flies, as stable camera platforms with long endurance.

N3A Goodyear GZ-20A Blimp & 80-0264 A-10C MI ANG at a NASCAR race, Michigan International Speedway 15 Aug 2010. Three A-10's were to fly the National Anthem flypast. They arrived 20 mins early and did circuits of the speedway track in trail formation. They flew inside and below the orbit of the blimp, before they departed to form up for the flypast.

N615LG American Blimp Corp A60R Lightship Group Chicago 13 September 2011. Metlife Snoopy 2 was over Navy Pier in Chicago. It was in town for the PGA BMW Championship at Cog Hill Country Club. The Blimp was actually below me, as this is taken from the John Hancock Center's Observatory, 1,000ft up on the 94th floor of that building.

I've always been an airship fan. One of my childhood memories is a SkyShip in FujiFilm colours that I saw flying over from my back garden in Luton and a Cessna flew past and gave a wing waggle. This was back in the late 80s/early 90s when Luton Airport had a lot less airliner traffic and still had a flying club, so it was much more common to see light and military traffic overhead. Unfortunately airships are pretty thin on the ground (and thin in the air!), so I've only ever photographed a handful.

A "Goodyear Blimp" was at Cardington in 2011 and 2012. I believe in 2012 it was used as a camera platform for coverage of the Olympics, with the Goodyear graphics removed to comply with advertising regulations.

In 2012 Monarch Airlnes started a service from Gatwick to Friedrichshafen, and on the first flight offered an enthusiasts' trip to the Dornier Museum, Zeppelin Museum and Zepplein hangars, where I saw these two:
