Manchester 6/3/2011

Post by mach one » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:22 pm

Well with the new lens in the bag I had to get out and give it a whirl, I was hoping for some of the elusive sun that Manchester has been getting this week, But when I got there it was the usual cloud cover and winter grey that I have become used to

Today was single runway opps landing on 05L so I went up to the field that overlooks the 05L threshold, first time I had been to this spot but the grey start made for some uninteresting photos

As they were on 05L they normally land the A380 on 05R so I went right up the far end to catch some uninterrupted views of the A380 arrival and I wasn’t disappointed

And to round off the day I went to the RVP for a couple of hours and caught one of the latest ryanair 737-800,s that was delivered mid February

Hi Mach One

Interesting shots on the undershoot there, I've never ventured to that spot so it looks like it might be a nice place to spend a summers evening.

Its bizzare how such small distances make such a big difference in the weather, at Barton it was 90% clear skies & where I live (2 DME 23R) it was still 80% clear skies!

Cheers,
Stephen

Today was the first time I have been over to that spot and i must admit it took a bit of finding: lol:

I walked the perimeter fence from crash gate 13 right around to crash gate 16 and was confused as to how you get to the undershoot and I nearly gave up and went somewhere else

Glad I found it as it will be a spot I visit again

Some really nice shots there, the ones from the threshold are great. You get a real sense of the A380's huge wingspan on on the third shot. :thumb:

yes it Certainly is a big beast, the wing span is just a shade under 80 metres and when you think that an airbus A319 has a wingspan of around 34 metres it shows how big it really is
