D-ABOL Condor B757-330(WL) - Green/"Island" Edition

Post by Knightsy14 » Tue Jan 17, 2023 5:33 pm

Hi all,

Today Saw the departure of D-ABOL from Norwich after Respray into the new Condor Livery - This version in the Green Striped Design, named "Island" by Condor Themselves.

I must say, in good lighting - this scheme looks rather impressive; bias maybe, with green being my favourite of the lot...

As Mentioned, Some Stunning Light Today Provided Some Fantastic Opportunities For Photographs.

Here Is One Of My Results:

nice photo Josh but no matter how many times I see that scheme I still find it hideous.
The green might be slightly better than some of the others but I still can't understand what their publicity people were thinking of when they were offered that as an option. Even the losing team on The Apprentice could have come up with something better!

thanks for posting it even if it did only remind me of my opinion of the scheme

Thanks for the kind words Andy - I do often find myself alone as an admirer of this livery.

As for the publicity of Condor through the new livery, I'm not a marketing specialist myself, however, I see the design as a great success. It's got people talking about a company some may have never heard of before whether that be positive or negative nonetheless. It only takes a few shares of a photo to go viral, beyond the aviation community to which they may have gained new customers...

Furthermore, if I was not an aviation enthusiast and I was at an airport waiting to travel and I saw any one of these newly painted aircraft pass by the window it would for sure get my attention, more so than 99% of the other schemes out there, so from that point of view I also see it as a success - its got peoples heads turning!

I think we have got ourselves into a state where no one wants a "basic" livery such as the new Icelandair Scheme (Of Which i am also a fan of :P ) where large titles are applied and a coloured tail changes slightly throughout the fleet, but no one also wants something that's "out there" and different to the rest!

An interesting controversy around the design and one where I am struggling to find someone like-minded!

Best Wishes Andy :thumb:
Regards,
Josh
