up with the owls at Stansted 21-01-2022 plus 3 from 27-01-22

I was up bright and early on Friday ( well maybe dark and early) for a trip to Stansted to try some dawn departures from a location I hadn't tried before. I got about 90 minutes of clear skies before the cloud rolled in (totally unpredicted by the weather forecast ). I was probably stretching my luck and lens but got some nice angles - incredibly although it was -3degrees I was picking up heat haze during part of the departures - I think it was coming off the distant industrial estate so this certainly won't be a summer location at over 3 Km range for the first part of the track I guess there will be heat haze everywhere then.

one of the latest Malta Air Max deliveries, they seem to all be delivered in Ryanair colours now, shame it went straight on

this was the best banker of the session, a Ryanair Sun Max, again their latest ones are being delivered in Ryanair colours rather than BUZZ (from what I can find SP-RZH was the last in the BUZZ scheme

and by the time this Qatar B777 departed the cloud had rolled in and it was into cloud at 1500 feet.

as for owls, I didn't see any, just 3 buzzards and a red kite. Oddly no deer on the fields either which surprised me.

I would be happy with those Andy - you can't beat a clear blue sky as a backdrop. Love the moon shot in paricular.
