2022's off to a cracking start!

Post by wiggy » Sat Jan 22, 2022 11:11 pm

While 2021 faded out with a whimper in Nov & Dec with not a lot to shoot, 2022 is off to a cracking start in January with some nice crisp winter sunshine and some interesting visitors.

Firstly a trip to Stanwell Moor for some Heathrow take-off action.

Unusual to see an aircraft with its undercarriage still down over the moor which made for an interesting shot!

Next off to Lasham to catch up with some recent arrivals.

Then back to Heathrow to snap the Icelandair 80 Years special scheme and the Saudi Retro B777 celebrating 75 years for them.

And lastly topped off by a visit to Birmingham today to see the National Airlines 747BCF in their 30th Anniversary scheme which they cleverly adapted from the scheme it had as a fire-fighter.

What a great start to the year!
C&C welcome.

All down to the wonders of the internet age and the volume of information we now have on prospective flights from the Radar Apps and the various chat groups where people in the know kindly share what they know. A far cry from the old days of rocking up to an airport "on-spec" just to see if they was anything interesting there when you happened to visit!

Awesome photos mate, well done. I work for Virgin Australia and seriously hoping the Tiger and VA frames have not reached end of life. Once we disclaimed them when we went into administration we lost track of where they ended up. Luckily now we are back in the air, we have leased a lot of them back.

Glad to hear Shaun that you're back up and running again. Most of the frames that go to Lasham make it back out again so I would expect they find new homes as the aviation sector recovers.
