Super Marine Spitfire at Barton 8th September 2010

Post by The Cameraman » Thu Sep 09, 2010 9:48 am

Hi Guys n Gals,

well with the fly in due this weekend, I thought I'd pay a quick visit to my local airfield.

Fingers crossed for good weather on the Sunday!

Anyway I've not a clue as to what's coming in, that's just the nature of fly ins, the pilots wake up in the morning, see what the weather's like and decide on where they're going but let's hope some 'good stuff' attends.

Anyway on the ramp I was blessed with the sight of this lovely 7/8th scale Spitfire. She's powered by a flat 8, Jabiru engine and sounds lovely. A quick wash n brush up and she was put away. She'll be flying out at around 12:45 on Sunday, to perform a Battle of Britain fly past near Wigan, so let's hope that the circuit's convenient on her return to perform a fly by!

So if you don't have millions in the bank, then you should make the owner an offer! He's owned her for three years and she's flown for 19, yes nineteen hours! You need a full PPL, not a Microlight type licence and according to Chris from Mainair, she's a delight to fly and reaches 140 knots with ease!

She's always been hiding in the hangar until now so it was a treat to see her in daylight!

Civvy reg'n is G-CCJL

Regards

Reggie

Hi Mike,

as far as I understand it, the owners wife isn't really happy with him flying this beastie!

It's beautiful, that's for sure.

My only problem was trying to take shot's without modern GA aircraft in the background!

Reggie
