Kemble Storage - 02-07-20

My first trip out since March with a work related trip up to Gloucester.

On the way home I pulled over at Kemble to have a look at the varied aircraft in storage pending the scrap man's axe. A sorry sight to be sure with 11 B747s, three A340s plus an assortment of B737, B757 and A320 types amongst others. The BA 747 nearest the A429 has all its engines removed, so clearly not going anywhere soon and probably now PWFU as opposed to being stored.

I've stitched shots together to give a panoramic view of each main storage area.

Nice photos Neal :) do you happen to know if LY-NVY (A320) was there as on the Kemble section of the forum, there’s been a bit of confusion on whether it’s actually there or not?

Thanks in advance :thumb:

nice pictures but a sad sight Neil, it's looking pretty packed at present

thanks for taking the time to stitch some together, it gives a far better impression of the place

There's no sign of it in any of my pictures and I did wonder if it had been wheeled straight in to an ASI hangar. However, when I checked on the radar App on my phone it still says it hasn't flown since 13th November!!

- I'm sure they can squeeze a few dozen more in

I must get down to St Athan to take a look at what has arrived there. Is Wales open to foreigners crossing the bridge yet?

I don't think it is Neil, isn't there a restriction that keeps people within 5 miles of home?

The panoramas are excellent. Quite amazing how many a/c are there now, and the proportion of heavies.

For the record a picture of the remaining storage area over by the Chevron hangars. There are two red tails which I believe to be Jet2 B757s in addition to the Corsair and BA 747s.

Re St Athan

Looks like it may be possible to visit Wales from Monday?

Many thanks, that helps put a location to all residents at the time of my visit except for 4L-TGN, which is assumed to currently be in a hangar.

LY-NVY and VT-INV have subsequently arrived and are parked on the ASI Hangar ramp.

Good mix and very good panorama shot of the heavies

Interesting that the Aigle Azur A320 is moved out the scrap line to where 4L-TGN used to be, probably getting clogged up so having to move things around out the way!
