Stansted 01-07-2020

Post by andygolfer » Wed Jul 01, 2020 11:11 am

a nice start to the month this morning as another Il.76 arrived for a cargo mission, RA-76511 this time. We seem to be spoilt in the last 10 days with RA-76951 also visiting 3 times for cargo runs to China, long may they continue.
There was also a Turkish Cargo A.330 and Cargolux B.747-8F arrived all in the space of 20 minutes - very handy! several Ryanair flights this morning as well, nearly all SP- or 9H- examples, they seem to be ramping up this week.

here's some pics, starting with the IL.76....

Very nice - lucky break with the weather too.

Civvies are generally not my thing - I've never seen an A330 with that nose gear bulge before. Presumably a modification for the cargo variant?

thanks Dan, glad i went this morning - it was hissing down here in Rayne about the time it departed

and yes a mod for the nose gear on the cargo versions.

Andy, we could each chip-in a few quid and get Dan a red BIC biro, a 6" ruler and the 2020 edition of CAM - what do you reckon?

those were the days! CAM was the annual plane spotter's bible in the 60s and 70s. I don't think they even did military ones until much later did they?

I think that the 1st MAM was published in 1979, it's in my archives somewhere. CAM is still the civvy spotter's bible for many, many people. :)
