May was a pretty frustrating month with my local, Sywell, shut for the best part of two weeks whilst the airfield was cleaned up following the fire. So out and about to a few local fields, including the rather disappointing Bulldog anniversary fly in at Turweston.

Nice set of pics & good to see G-AZIJ amongst them - I've had several flight in it (as a passenger) when it was GCI based.

Nice set as always Gavin, what sort of damage was caused to the airfield during the fire? I presume a lot of ash was deposited everywhere, any other damage?

They were very lucky to get away with the airfield being covered with asbestos from the warehouse that burned down. It was right next to the Sloane Helicopters facility and some of the private hangars. On another day these could easily have gone up in smoke.

I didn't know about the asbestos, a lucky escape for all by the sounds of it.
