Re: Stansted 26-04-2019
Nice set Andy, the best one is #2 as it's really sharp, the others seem a little soft to me though. Were you on the limit of your lens for some of them?

Re: Stansted 26-04-2019
thanks Mike and no, I wasn't on the limit. Mainly around 350 - 450mm (back and legs hurting too much to walk far from the car - fishing injury so a bit towards the top end), I had several especially the dull ones which were very soft and a few totally out of focus so I'm a bit worried that something (auto-focus?) wasn't working properly. Seemed better in the brighter weather but looking at the exif data I can't spot anything that I set wrong. I shall try a few test ones over the weekend to see what happens. A few weren't just soft they were totally out of focus as if the auto-focus wasn't working.
All a bit of a pain but I got some nice ones.

Great shots of the SP Andy. That one has eluded me so far as well. Good variety in the other shots also. Great set.

Re: Stansted 26-04-2019
thanks for the comments especially re the soft appearance. I've re-sharpened them now so i'd be pleased to hear if you think they look better no, thanks.
I'm always a bit cautious re sharpening as I don't want to overdo it and end up with the white edge to the aircraft that happens when you go a bit too far with it. I had held back on the original ones a bit and maybe too far but I was having issues with focussing at times as well.
One of my troubles is my crappy eyesight, my left eye in particular is very poor (keratoconus and astigmatism) and even with my contact lens that eye isn't clear, right eye is better but far from perfect so I can't always tell if the image is sharp anyway.

Re: Stansted 26-04-2019
They seem to look a lot better now Andy and it seems like you've found the root of the problem, sorry to hear about your eyesight issue.

Re: Stansted 26-04-2019
thanks Mike, my eyesight has been bad for ages. Probably too much time looking through theodolites and telescopes in the past. I had astigmatism in my left eye by the time I was 30 but the keratoconus only got noticeable about 15 yeas ago . Cornea transplant isn't an option apparently as my right eye is considered good enough to get me by.
