Rayne Hall Farm, Essex 30-01-2019

Post by andygolfer » Thu Jan 31, 2019 5:34 pm

I made the most of some very fine clear weather yesterday and took my dog for a long walk, part of the route took me past my local airstrip and I stopped to take some seasonal shots of the aircraft just as G-INYS, the newest resident was departing. I know the pilot well and had agreed to do some photos some time back and I thought once again I'd missed out on some good weather. fortunately he was just up on a short check flight, he only finished the build a month or so ago and he was soon back and I was greeted with - 'have you got your camera - it's super up there today'. The camera round my shoulder gave a positive answer and off we went , dog didn't want to go so left her in care of another guy so that was a possible pitfall solved.
It was superbly clear and the bit of snow on the ground led to some rather nice pics around my village etc. Anyway here are some aircraft ones and I might include one or two general ones as well ;)
this is Steve's new aircraft G-INYS a Sherwood Scout and it's great for photography especially with the window open ('twas a tad chilly when I opened it though)

and the airfield with the sewage treatment works in the foreground - one of my projects when I was working was building the extensoin to hte works in the foreground (well I was the project manager rather than getting my hands dirty), that was before I lived in Rayne otherwise I could have walked to work every day! I used to like the bigger civil engineering projects - always interesting and the pay was better on the sewage ones - we got time and a turd!

I love that a/c! Great colourscheme, an Aerobat, and with a tailwheel. I presume it's new registration of G-TXAS is due to it having the Texas Taildragger conversion. As far as I'm aware, all C150s came off the line with a tricycle undercarriage, and the Texas Taildragger is the most common tailwheel conversion available for them.

he's so modest! what Nick hasn't mentioned is that he took a photo of this aircraft when registered G-HFCA (also at Rayne) and he got 3rd place in SPOTM with it back in February 2015.
As well as that it is the header photo on the UK Light Aviation Enthusiasts google group which he and I run so he's done well with it!
