Caribbean glimpses

Post by LondonEye » Thu Nov 22, 2018 5:08 pm

Just back from the Caribbean, celebrating our anniversary on a cruise.
Did not expect to see much aviation (USA transits were both as evening fell), but these are glimpses of opportunity. Excuse picture quality.
Pictures taken on bus tours, through glass etc.

San Juan, Puerto Rico has two airports. The smaller one is right next to the harbour.

This Islander of Air Flamenco passed around a few times.

St Lucia has this small airfield, again near the harbour.

J6-AAR unsurprisingly, is an As350 of St Lucia Helicopters.

The other two in the fleet J6-AAM, J6-AAQ

St Maarten has a small airfield on the French side.
ATR's F-OMYM Air Antilles and F-OSIV Air Caraibes visible.

On the Dutch side, the bus passed the well known Princess Juliana Airport, sadly the Eastern end, not the well photographed beach at the West.
This Fokker 50 of Insel Air parked up. Now defunct, anyone know which ? I belive most are now stored in Curacao or scrapped.

A chance photo, overlooking St Thomas Bay, US Virgin Islands.
Twin Otter C-GCKB Kenn Borek operated by Seaborne AL.

Finally, a few shots from the terminal at the larger San Juan international Airport.

Thanks for looking. Pete.

very nice Pete, looks like you had a good trip and saw more airfields than I did on my recent trip to Canada. It's a pain taking through glass on a coach but the plus side is that you're higher up so there are a few less obstructions, With these sort of photos I always think the content is the most enjoyable part even if they are not A1 quality. It's surprising what you see at times as well as you pass these places.
