Shortly after arriving near the bottom of 23L early yesterday morning, I noticed some activity with a number of fire tenders and support vehicles lit up and getting ready for an arrival of some sort.
At about 08:10 FlyBe flight BE3123, (Dash8 G ECOC) touched down on runway 23L, eventually coming to a stop right in front of me followed by two fire trucks and several support vehicles. It turned round and made its way at a slow but steady pace back to the terminal, followed closely by the two fire trucks who passed the escort over to another two tenders on the taxi-way between runways.
There were no obvious signs of what the problem was, but checking on Flightradar24, it would appear that the aircraft departed Manchester at 06:46 and quite early in the flight turned back and circled near Buxton/Maccclesfield before eventually touching down again at 08:10.
Here are some of the photos I took - several are really grainy because in my excitement I had the camera set to 1/1600 at 5.6 and auto ISO and forgot to change the settings. ISO was in some cases 6400.
On the approach you can see how windy it was by the angle of the aircraft:

Nicely caught Paul
There's actually a discussion on the Manchester Airport Facebook group regarding this with photos taken from roughly the same location by a chap called Dave Shoebridge. He says that the time on his camera when it landed was 07.19. I'm confused !

Mike,
I do apologise and hang my head in embarrassed shame. I have just checked and my camera says 15:22 but my computer says 14:29 - so I am out by nearly an hour. That would make touchdown at 07:17. I should have been alerted by the fact that I arrived at about 07:00 and hadn't been there that long when it all unfolded.
Dave was actually standing next to me at the time and we spent several hours together chatting and photographing anything that flew.
Paul

Hi Paul, that would explain things, I hate to think what time is on my cameras as it's so long since they've been used !
