this Thai T.7 kept it's wheels down for ages, right through it's turn and beyond (an Air India 787 did the same) not sure what the reason was.

Nice set as always Andy, the Thai & Air India would have left their gear down to cool the brakes after a lot of stopping & starting during a long taxi, it's quite normal. :thumb:

A long day indeed but you managed to bag a good selection there.

The Gulf Air crop photo is particularly nice as are the Vietnam and Qantas B787s. The Air Belgium A340 is a rare catch.

Which locations did you end up using on this visit?

Neil

thanks Neil,
the Air Belgium was a nice catch and I knew BA were using it so was pleased it made an appearance. Was pleased to get the Qantas special scheme at last as well.

Re the locations, as they were departing on 27R I realised that the usual location on Stanwell Moor wouldn't be much good so I went to the village centre and onto the playing field on Horton road right opposite the eastern entrance to Hithermoor road, I parked on Horton Rd (no restrictions) and there's a gate to walk through onto the park / playing field. I stayed towards the eastern edge about half way down so I could see over the trees easily. The biggest problem was the heat haze coming off the T.5 area when they first appeared above the tree/hedge line - that was right in line with T.5 and the haze was a real pain, once they cleared that area it was far better and the banking shots were pretty clear and sharp. Certainly a good spot for bankers and only slightly further away than from the moor itself.
The arrivals were taken at the cemetery until 3pm - loads of spotters there so obviously the sign wasn't being enforced, as you suggested it's probably there so they can legally move people on if ever they have a big event. After that I went to Warwick Rd / Chester Rd park for the 27R arrivals.

I've amended my plan for 27R departures on my Heathrow guide in the appropriate section here: http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 36&t=30594 , there is a postcode and same for the 27R arrivals.

I look forward to seeing some of your's from there soon! (About time I returned the favour re locations ;) )

thanks Paul, when I looked at them at home (especially the lift offs) I couldn't believe how much heat haze there was - and earlier there was lots of moisture in the air as well with vapour clouds over the wings. The bankers actually suffered less that the lift off ones.

Brillant collection Andy!

Love the Qantas, Gulf Air and Malaysian A350 shots, but also a lovely shot of the Brussels special (jammy!) Even more jammy is the Air Belgium A340! Just imagining if I booked that flight and had that turn up :D

Only been once in recent times and didn't even see the fancy Malaysian 350, just the normal boring one :(

Nice to see an Air Bridge Cargo 747 too, looks very unusual compared to usual Cargo Logic Air?
