I popped up to Manchester at the break of day yesterday and spent about four hours southside on the mound. I was surprised to be the only one there, so at least I had the choice of where I set myself up. Although I have owned a tripod for many years, I mostly shoot hand held. However, as I am slowly getting into video, I decided to use my tripod for both video and stills yesterday. There was a steep learning curve when it came to using my MVH500 head as it was difficult to get a smooth panning action. I was glad that there was nobody there to take offence while I swore at myself on a regular basis. I tried some video with my Panasonic but nothing was worth keeping so I concentrated on my stills.
The titles will give the details of each image - sorry so many of them....

Re: Manchester 12 May
Thanks Jon. The cursing led me to the internet to find a cure for the jittery panning. The cure seems to be to use an elastic band to pull the handle on the fluid head. I have tried it at home and it looks promising. Will nip back to Manchester to try it in the next few days.

Nice set Paul, I've enjoyed looking through them.

Mike,
Thanks. Using the tripod gave me a much better success rate than I normally get - should have used it long before now!
