Excellent shots of a very tasty aircraft. Do you need stepladders for photos from that location? I'm guessing so, but just wanted to check before I next visit.

I've never used steps from that location, but sometimes you do catch the wire in the shot, was fortunate to be able to crop it out this time.Small steps would certainly guarantee a clear shot.
Thanks for the kind comments, really appreciated.

Many thanks for that. In the past I've walked to the mound south abeam the 27 threshold, which provided good landing shots without the use of steps. Good to know there's a better option walking further west.

Very nice shot's! Loved to have seen that!

Is that mound that rubble pile you pass if you take the path to Runway 27 approach lights? Only go there once a year and walk from Donnington Services.

Sounds like it - the mound I have used is pointed to by the arrow on this map: http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=446875 ... &A=Y&Z=115

From the 27 end where the picnic tables are/were is closed off for building work.As i don't drive, not 100% where you would park, but have heard of others parking at the Radison Hotel for a couple of quid i think. The mound, from the pic thats posted,is roughly 2" to the left, more or less level with the entry/exit taxiway. There is private parking behind it.If you get to the Royal Mail trucks, and just follow the fence line over some boggy ground, and overgrown in places (avoidable by going through the car park) then a gap in the hedge, takes you to this 'mound'.You could also reach it by parking at the picnic tables and follow the fence for roughly 10-15mins,although i believe that part is now closed off,due to the construction work that is ongoing.
More or less between A3 and W1 & 2. http://www.gcmap.com/diagrams/pdf/EGNX.pdf

Hope all this makes sense.
