G-PHRG Airlander 10 - 18th/19th/20th April 2017

Post by TheMightyOz » Fri Apr 21, 2017 12:27 pm

Yet more Airlander pics from me, from the last 3 days. I hope they're of interest.

April 18th - Popped down after work to see if anything was happening

April 19th - Weather looked beautiful for flying so I popped down on the way to work just in case, but sadly no flight yet.

April 20th - Went after work to see what I now know was a full flight rehearsal that was witnessed by the CAA allowing the Permit to Fly to be issued today. Got chatting to people and ended up spending two hours there!

She had another accident the other day didn't she, did some damage to herself again....I really hope they can sort all the teething issues with her and get her flying properly soon, it must be so disenchanting having to deal with all the problems with her

No accident, no damage. Typical sensationalist nonsense that passes for journalism in the mainstream media these days. A gust of wind lifted the back end and she had a period of "kiting" which is intended, expected and totally normal behaviour for any airship on a mast. This was reported as having broken away from mooring ropes and nosedived into a field! There are no mooring ropes. Her only point of contact is the mooring mast which is a ball and socket joint that leaves her free to pitch, yaw and roll in the wind.

Cheers,
Oz

That is OK then

The photos of her bum in the air and her snout in the grass did give the perception of another problem with her, its good that she is undamaged....a great relief to all concerned who have followed her progress

CAA Permit to Fly issued yesterday and according to HAV's statement just some internal paperwork and a few bits to cover off with EASA and they're ready to go. Guess I'm going to have to be bunking off work pretty soon!
