Stansted 20-12-2016

Post by andygolfer » Wed Dec 21, 2016 7:47 am

Finally I managed to get to Stansted on a sunny afternoon - or at least part of it was. Set off about 1.00 and there was patchy close which became full cloud but it cleared almost instantly around 2.30 to make for some nice light. I thought SST! ( 'susnet shots time') but just as I said it the sun started to go behind a bank of low cloud out to the west  I tired a couple but nothing very good unfortunately.
Highlight of the arrivals was the Air Atlanta Icelandic B.747, A couple of nice ones north-side too.

starting with the northside from 2 different vantage points:

it was the Brunei govt B.747-8BBJ behind this 777 that I really wanted a pic of but no angle possible at all unfortunately

and the sun must surely set forever on this old girl before too long, Tristar G-IOIT ex G-CEAP still occasionally used for tug practice...

then to the mound...
finally got a pic of a West Atlantic ATP in the white scheme

the only biz movement - very quiet on that front

Some interesting ones there despite the weather. I like the action shot of the ATP.
Winter light makes for some interesting shots.
Thanks
Pete.

Strange optical illusion on the UAE 777 vs Brunei 747 tails.

In response to your question, I vote for the cropped one.

it is isn't it. I didnt notice until I came to edit it, they line up perfectly with the back edge of the flag. I had one from another angle but that had a lamp pole in it which rather spoilt it so I went with this.

rugbyref - thanks for the response re the cropped one

I hadn't noticed that when I first looked at them, that's a really strange photo !

Nice set Andy, I cant quite decide betwen the cropped or non cropped Atlanta but the non cropped one has an awful lot of wing flex for a 747 almost as much as a 787!
Cheers

Nice set as usual Andy. I do like the scheme on M-CLAB.

I would go for the crop-shot as it removes some background clutter which can often detract from the main subject, as in this case. Either way it is a 747 so not a huge issue :D

All the best and Season's greetings
Ian
