IL62 Robin Hood airport 2/11/2016

Post by yunglee » Wed Nov 02, 2016 4:29 pm

I decided to post a monthly update on here from Doncaster's Robin Hood airport, but I thought it would be good to share yesterdays and today's rather unusual and special visitor, an IL62!

In time order, the day started at 6am with a planned departure of 7am, which slipped back to 10:50am. I should add that it was scheduled to arrive at 1pm on the st November but that slipped back to 8pm

Well done. Nice to see such pictures.
Must have modified engines. I thought only the Russian State ones had exemption to fly here. Apart from them, the last IL62's that I recall coming to UK were Uzbekistan AW at Heathrow/Gatwick and Cubana at Gatwick.
Cheers,
Pete.

Great stuff thanks for sharing the pictures. No way i could have got down from the far north even for an Il62 - hope it comes again.

Fantastic shots of what is now a rare type. I remember the various Eastern Bloc examples we used to see, but haven't seen one fly for quite a few years now, sadly.

Lovely - I looked up and watched it contrail over the South of England at 36,000ft. Wish I could have been closer like you and not at my work desk.

Excellent photographs!

Is this the only civil registered Il62 cargo plane?

Excellent set Lee well worth the early start! Doncaster is doing very nicely for exotic cargo flights.

Cheers
