Oh my, what a fabulous selection, and very well photographed too. I remember all those wonderful types from the 1980s, although not North Korean of course! I know a chap who went with Ian Allan and to say I'm jealous is an understatement

Not just seeing/photographing them, but flying on them too - what an experience that must have been.

what a fantastic post, not just fabulous aircraft but really well photographed / composed as well. Looks like a superb trip, was it tightly controlled (I assume it would be)?
Thanks for taking the time to put up such an exceptional post - well done
Andy

What an amazing set of shots, did they re-spray the Air Koryo fleet especially for the occasion?

Hi guys..
Thanks for the comments.. much appreciated indeed as it was only my second post after mucking up he first with the links etc last week, 'so apologies'.. but got the hang of it now though!

anyway I cant recommend this trip enough.. if your thinking about it, 'go for it' as I would definitely go back... and as for security issues, we were all over the active ramp on the second day and right next to the runway for the first day, both sides, to get the best of the light conditions regarding the sun, so the authorities couldn't have been more helpful...

I was surprised regards taking shots of the military though, no one bothered us at all.. the only time we were not to take shots was on board the IL76 and believe it or not, the AN2..
When we arrived in Pyongyang.. we noticed that a number of the fleet were still in the old colours.. but all the aircraft that were at the show were in the (I take it) new colours?? so yes maybe they did do it for the occasion with the whole media watching??
Fantastic trip and memories.... and I believe next years is in the making... bigger and better...
thanks again for the comments..

propsmoke,
I wonder if you entered or departed via the new airport building in Pyongyang.
Wonsan looks a modern affair also.
Escorted throughout your stay in DPRK I presume ?

Hi guys..
Thanks again for the comments... always appreciated..
yeah Sam chui, he was in our group.. and on the flights I went on as well.. very funny character!
To answer radiostationx question... I was very impressed with both the terminals in Pyongyang and Wonsan when we passed through them, both very modern looking terminals, and yes, we were met by several English speaking guides who stayed with us for the full duration of the trip while in the DPRK, who were very helpful and full of information...
